Thank you latter

Dear Barbara,

Thank you for coming on our yr 7 trip to the Auckland Museum. All the teachers and kids are thankful for all your help. Without your help us teachers and kids wouldn’t be able to go on that trip.

Thank you for giving up your time to help us. My highlight was getting to go into that volcano.

Thank you very much.

Touch Tournament

Last week on Thursday the year 7 & 8’s got the opportunity to play touch at a tournament against the best Intermediate teams in Auckland. There were two teams going to the tournament. It was held at a park in Mangere and it was also a fun day out. We had a theme about anti bullying.

To start off the day we had to go and watch our other mixed team because they played before us. We warmed up after 5 minutes after our warm up we walked to our field we played on field 1. The ref had explained what the rules are.

Through half of the day we were winning all our games and we made it into the semi finals. It was a pretty tough game. We almost lost but then in the last minute one of our teammates did one of his magic tricks and we had won.

We had made the finals and it was a really hard game. We played Kedgley Intermediate in the finals. They had fast sets and fast people and they also had a good team. Even though we lost we still came 2nd place.

I was proud of my team even though we didn’t win, but I'm still proud of my team.

Athletics

Last week Point England School had Athletics. Athletics is an event that Point England does every year. There were different kind of events happening. The events were sprints, high jump, relay, sack races, javelin, shot put, softball throw and many more events.

We started right after morning tea because Mr Burt wanted to let the grass dry. It was raining the day before. As we started we had to get into our year groups. Mrs Moala was our sports leader for our group. We started off with softball throw.
As we started coming 1st was Allanah in 2nd place was Iron and in 3rd place was Mua. Allanah Iron and Mua’s throw were pretty far. It was my turn up next. My 1st throw wasn’t good it went out but my 2nd throw I bet all of them. Next up was Jordenne she threw pretty far but I just won buy a few centimetres.

Our next activity was a team sport so we had to be in our house colors. Our sport was relay, there were cones on the other side so what we had to do was half of our team had to go on the other side . After a while of running we all decided to just lie down and have a rest and wait for our next event.

As we reached to shot put we had been given instructions right after that we started. After quite a while it was my turn i threw the shot put and it went pretty far so I was coming 1st then Jordenne threw her’s just near mine and she was coming 2nd place after that Iron came along and threw her shot put and it just bet the third place person.

Athletics was really cool.

Auckland Museum

This week the Yearr 7’s had a trip to the Auckland Museum. The Year 7’s had their trip on the same day as the Yr 8 camp. We had to be put into groups of 7, and we also needed to have enough parents to go to the trip.

Students were put into groups so it would be easier to look after us. To start off our tour around the museum we had our morning tea before we went around the museum. Our leader has gave us a worksheet so that we could draw some patterns of artwork from the Maori and Pacific galleries.

All groups have been given a task to draw patterns. My group started off with the Maori patterns. I was so surprised when I saw a waka at the museum. That waka was one of the biggest waka I have ever seen in my life.

My experience at the Museum was really cool and kinda boring, but it was worth going. It was really cool seeing the waka and all the amazing art.

My favourite part of the Museum was going into the volcano as it was really fun. We were waiting for quite a while after we went inside we watched this video about a volcano eruption suddenly the room started to shake and an volcano just erupted out of no where.

At the end of the day we got to do something like a amazing race. We had to go around the domain and take photos of the list we have been given.

Why do you need sleep?

Why is it important to sleep?

Well children should be sleeping for about 10 hours each night. Because it will help you grow faster and it helps your body. Also sleeping allows you to rest your body and brain. It also helps you rest your brain for thinking.

Resting is really good for kids so that you can be prepare for the next day. Resting can also help you learn if you get enough rest. If you don’t get enough rest you will be really exhausted and lazy.

It can also cause accidents and many bad things. You also need a comfortable bed for you to be sleeping on. Resting can also help you learn better and think more faster. It can also help you think faster.

Sleeping should be helping you with no distractions. If you stay up the whole night with no sleep your brain will be very tired. It can also help your brain sort out things for the next day.

If you haven’t slept for two days your brain and also your body will be very very exhausted. Babies should be sleeping about 14 or 15 per hour. Babies also need a comfortable bed.

Babies should always likely to be sleeping for about 14 or 15 per hour. Little kids should are likely to be having 10 hours per day. It always helps you think and learn more.

There are many reason why children should be resting per day.

How To Play Touch

How do people play touch rugby?

First of all only 6 people are allowed on the field per team. If there are more than 6 people the ref will blow his/her whistle and stop the game.

Touch is the same as rugby but there is no tackling. But touch is a bit strict if you get touched and you run off your mark and play the ball it would be hand over. Touch is also a fast game and is known as fast play.

There are many rules to this game. For this game you just need to be onside most of the time. Many couches pick the people that have most experience in touch. With the most experience players your team could properly be the best.

Some of the equipment that is needed is a rugby ball and cones. People normally play touch on the field where it is usually played. Cones are needed so that you would know where the out and try line is.

Many people are into touch, touch is a fun sporty game it is played as fast play the most important thing is that you always need to be onside. If someone doesn't touch you and you play the ball it is hand over.

If you drop the ball or even if the ball hits the ground it will be hand over. The rules are simple there is no tackling, no forward pass, have to be on your mark, have to be onside and there is only allowed 6 players on the field.

If you don’t know how to play touch well I have just told you the rules and how to play.

Class/School Rules

Why is it so important to have rules? Well it will be really dangerous for the student and the teachers. But at Point England school we have rules. If no rules were made at Point England school there were be a lot of violence and a lot of disrespect towards the teachers.

It is very important to have rules at school so that the students can have respect towards the teachers and also they can have protection. It’s very important to have rules so that students can know where the boundaries are.

Rules are made so that students can respect the teachers. Also students and teachers can get a good future by following the rules that are made at school. Students can also get into University if they follow the rules.

If no rules were made a lot of bad things would be happening at school. Many kids would be doing dumb things they would also be giving teachers a pain. No one would be able to control them because no rules were made.

Schools need safety and also protection. Otherwise many bad things could be happening like student could be taking drugs, also they might not turn up to school on time or even they might not even come to school.

There are many reasons why we all need rules so that we can have a good future.

Immersion Assembly

Every year after our 2 weeks of holidays Pt England School always has an immersion assembly. This year we are in term 4 our last term for the year. Our topic for this term is going to be ‘Art Attack’ for the whole term.

To start with, all the team one teachers were sitting on the edge of the stage relaxing. When the song changed they all got up and went and got their beach stuff. Mrs George was relaxing on a boat. Mrs Mola was playing with a beach ball with Miss Rapold. Until Mrs George started to chuck chocolate out into the audience. Team 1 is going to be studying about the environment to inspire their art.

Team 2 will be learning about primary colours. The teachers showed us a video about the three primary colours which are blue, yellow and red. The video was a song about what the three primary colours would be if you had mixed red and blue, red and yellow, and yellow and blue.

Next is team 3, Mrs Barks read out information about different artists. The interesting things about their item was that the artists has made different kind of things that are in the world now. It was really interesting because I had thought that artists were just good at drawing.

After team 3’s item, next up was team 4 Mrs Garden was talking about who had the best art. There were six different famous people on the stage, Mrs Garden was talking about their art. After talking about the art she said clap for the person with the best art. It came to a really famous artists we all clapped as hard as we could but Mrs Garden said it was the person next to him.

Finally Team 5 were last to perform. Their item was my favourite because what they had done was a painting of some of the important people at our school. When they had done painting they showed us what the painting was. It was of Mr Jacobson, Mrs Jarman and Mr Burt.

Cross Country

Wonder what cross country would be like?

On Thursday the 11th of September, our whole school had cross country. It was held at Point England School. It went from the little kids to the older kids.  We have different house colours Matatua, Te Arawa, Takitimu and Tainui.

When it was yr7 girls run I felt so nervous that I had butterflies. Bang!! Off went all the girls running as fast as they could.

During the middle of the race Quasia and I would always run and stop many times. Quasia would mostly run in front of me then stop. I would do the same thing.

I felt exhausted during the race. I had to run twice around the whole reserve. I saw Sela up ahead. I didn’t try to catch up with her because I was too tired from my first lap.

When I crossed the finish line I quickly walked straight to the water station. After I had a few drinks of water I walked to go sit next to my friends. All we were talking about was our cross country run.

I was really exhausted after our whole 2 laps.

Netball Prize giving

Last night we had netball prize giving. For netball prizegiving we had to bring food to the prize giving. As prize giving started we had to it first. There were many foods so that meant that we can have thirds.

As prizegiving started as we started from the little kids and it went up to the older kids.As the litle kids went up the couchs had to say a few words then they would call out the team one by one.

As it was getting closer to our team we had to come up with something. as it was the yr8 team 1 we waited until our turn. As it was our turn we go up our coaches were calling our name one by one.

As it was over most people went and eat the leftover. Also helped clean up the hall as netball was over I couldn’t wait until next year.

Ban Plastic bags

I am writing this letter to tell you that plastic bags should be banned. Many sea creatures are dying from eating the plastic bags in the sea.

Plastic bags shouldn't be thrown to the ground, it should be thrown into the rubbish bin. Otherwise it would end up into oceans, rivers, trees and somewhere else.

Everything you chuck away can end up in the river, trees and the ocean. Rubbish can affect the world by polluting the world.  The world could be full of rubbish.

Most people go to shopping malls. Most shopping malls give away free plastic bags. Pak n Save sell their plastic bags for only 10c. But most shops give their plastic bags for free.

Yours Sincerely

Ata Argument Writing

I believe that children should exercise everyday so that they can transform and become strong and fit. Children should exercise more often so that they can achieve their fitness goals.

Many kids should exercise more so that they could be healthy. Kids should exercise especially adults. Adults should exercise every day like kids so that you would have strength, speed and agility.

Kids would only want to exercise so that they can achieve their goals. It’s the same as wanting to get better at sports or getting better at running.

Children who exercise every day are better at sports, running and other things. Kids who always exercise will become healthy, sporty and skinny and also really fast

Therefore I believe that exercise is the best thing for your body. So that you can keep healthy, strong and fast.

Why Is My Mind And Body Important?

Why is your mind and brain so important? your mind is important because it carries all your good thoughts. Your body helps you to do your work as your body works it helps you to do things more often.

As you are thinking of something your mind helps you think faster. Your mind is very important because if you didn’t know how to think how hard would it be to do work. Your mind is something important when you think you click right away and you would know what to do next.

Such as your body it is really different. As we learnt at Life Ed with Lyn we know that many drugs can affect your brain and body. Your body is the most important thing in your body.

Your bones are important too but your brain is really important. As your body works it would be easier to work. Such as alcohol and drugs those are mostly likely to cause death and problems to your brain and to your body.

How does your mind work? well your mind works the same as how my mind works. As my brain sends messages to my mind I think really fast. But if you take drugs your brain and body can start getting slower and slower and it would be really hard for you to think.

What would you do if you couldn’t think? if you couldn’t think you won’t be able to go to work, study for a test, you won’t even know how to spell your own name. Your mind is very important because if you didn’t have a mind you won’t be able to do your favorite things.

Life Ed

Today was our last day for Life Ed With Lyn. We have been learning about drugs and alcohol. Lyn has been showing us different videos of people that have use drugs and alcohol before.

Many teenagers like Rita use drugs and alcohol to fit in. Rita started at the age of 12 she wanted to start drugs because she wanted to be cool. As Rita started to take more drugs and alcohol she started to get addicted.

James started using drugs at the age of 13. His friends keeps on asking do you want drugs he said no. One day he took drugs he took marijuana he started to get use to it and keep on taking it every day.

There was different kind of kinds of people that had reason. Most of the teenagers had the same reason. They all wanted to fit in as James and Rita started to take drugs they started to get addicted to the drugs.

Immersion Assembly

When we walked into assembly on the first day of term, we saw three bikes. Then along came Mr Jacobsen with another bike. Then there was four. Ms Tito was on her own bike on the stage.

This term our theme is called ‘Game On’. Every term we always have a theme. We are learning about the Commonwealth games. At the Commonwealth games there are many sports like boxing, rugby sevens, gymnastics and also long jump.

At our immersion assembly we had different teams that did different things about Game On. Team four did a mash potato challenge. They had to build something with the mash potato when they finished the referee had to pick which one was the best.

Team 2 was really funny because their one was about all different sports. They did running, shot put and javelin. Their one was really funny. I like watching it because it was cool for us to watch.

When our assembly was finished I was ready to learn.

Tamaki Tech

There are three ground that are there for tech this year is the first time that I have been to tech. The first group that I was in was hard material. What we had to do was we need to design what you want to make.

We also learnt how to make what we design the cool thing is that we get to changed groups every 13 weeks. In the first week you get to make a form to who you are making it to and then you need put on picture of what they like.

In 13 weeks time your teacher for tech tells you what group you get to go if you are in hard material you might go Food or Graphics. The group that was in hard material got moved to Graphics.

What you learn in Graphics is horizon lines we had to draw it on a piece of paper lines and once you finished it turns into something. At the end we all head back to school. It so fun to be doing tech especially when it is my first time.

Smart footprint (Cyber Smart)

You always need to remember about smart footprint the reason why is because everything you do people are watching you or can see you especially online. If you say something mean to other people online and you try and delete it won’t work because people can see what your doing.

Its amazing sharing things online on your blog and making fun videos. But when you do something wrong and never be cyber smart the teachers and your mother will see what you are doing.

Smart footprint is not only foot print on the sand its about what you do. You have to be smart and chose to do the right things not bad if you friends make you do something dumb would you really listen or be smart?

It cool and amazing sharing things but sharing bad things is not being smart. Everywhere you go there is always a footprint when ever you do something bad and you try to trash it you would always leave a footprint.

Just remember what Mr Burt said being smart footprint is be a good person not being bad. Just remember that everywhere you go you would always leave a footprint no matter what you do or where you go.
